Description

ECVS Residents Course - Day 1

Endoscopic Spine Surgery:

Description

This course is reserved for second-year and more advanced ECVS residents. Didactic sessions will include mock examinations, reviews of key literature, and multiple-choice questions designed to help participants prepare for the ECVS Board Examination. By the end of this two-day course, participants will have an in-depth understanding of cranial cruciate ligament disease and meniscal pathology, stifle arthroscopy including joint distraction, as well as the planning and execution of tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) using the Arthrex TPLO plate. A series of high-level dry and wet lab sessions forms the core of the course, taking full advantage of the outstanding facilities of the ArthroLab. These practical sessions provide intensive hands-on training under the supervision of highly experienced faculty members, ensuring effective skill development and clinical application.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) disease and meniscal pathology. • Understand the criteria for selecting appropriate instruments and equipment for stifle arthroscopy, including the use of joint distraction. • Perform stifle arthroscopy and identify relevant intra-articular pathology. • Recognize potential complications associated with arthroscopy and TPLO procedures. • Understand the importance of preoperative planning and other key aspects of clinical decision-making specific to tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO). • Plan and perform TPLO using the Arthrex TPLO plate. • Complete a mock examination to assess and strengthen their knowledge in preparation for the ECVS Board Examination
